HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!

I hope that you had a great Christmas and have recovered from the New Year celebrations!

Many thanks once again to those of you who took part in the Link Romania Family Shoebox Appeal. I have just received a letter of thanks from the organisers to tell us that in total 35,000 boxes were collected and distributed among the poorest and most marginalized in Romania and the Republic of Modova.

“We want to tell you how much a young person’s life is enriched by the knowledge that someone cares for them. We want to tell you every shoebox counts.”

TESCO SPORT FOR SCHOOLS

Thank you for collecting these vouchers. We had almost 23,000 and have ordered a variety of equipment for the children to use.

THANK YOU TO THE FRIENDS

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Friends of Maidenbower Infant School and Nursery for their tireless work raising money to make the children’s school experience exciting. They have raised thousands of pounds enabling us to buy all sorts of equipment that we would otherwise be unable to have. For example we are currently resourcing the Yellow Unit with ride-ons, construction equipment, storage and playground markings.
Shortly the Friends will be writing to you asking for volunteers to support their various fund raising events. Please consider helping.

Many congratulations to Miss Aylmore who was married during the holidays - now Mrs Marshall.

SCHOOL REVIEW

As we approach the end of this financial year we begin to prepare to review the provision and progress we have made. During this half term you and your children will be receiving questionnaires so that you can contribute to this process and help us to plan for the future.
PLEASE take a few minutes to complete the questionnaires as we value your input.

PATCHWORK

Parents and their children working together

We are planning a Saturday afternoon PATCHWORK this term on Saturday 11th February
Details to follow.

CONSULTATION EVENINGS

Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th March

This is an opportunity for you to come and discuss your child’s progress during a ten minute appointment. Lists will go up in cloakrooms on Wednesday 8th February for you to sign up.

VANDALISM!

Sadly we have been the victims of increasing vandalism. The Nursery outside area has been targeted on several occasions and equipment has been destroyed.
If you see anyone that you consider may be up to mischief on the school premises during the evenings and at the weekend please would you let us know.

BOOK FAIR

14th - 21st March

An opportunity to buy a range of children’s literature. Details to follow.

They’re Back!

Head lice are back with us and causing quite a problem. Please, please check your children’s hair at least once a week and treat the WHOLE family should you spot lice or eggs. To try to stop the spread of head lice children with long hair MUST have their hair tied back. Thanks for your co-operation.

A Few Reminders

Safety

The car park is a dangerous place! Please ensure that you and your children come into school safely - use the gates. Please do not walk through the staff car park.

Children should not ride bicycles and scooters on the playground.

PE

Please ensure that your child has a PE kit at school every day.

Earrings

It is County Policy that earrings must be removed for PE for safety. I suggest that you either teach your child to remove and replace their earrings themselves or they do not wear them on PE days. We can only cover recently pierced ears.
Also may I remind you that the only earrings acceptable for school are small sleepers or studs.
