2006 Autumn
Thursday, September 28th, 2006Welcome back to the new school year, I hope you all had a good summer.
STAFF NEWS
This term Mr Hedges will be our Acting Deputy Headteacher. He will need non-contact time to fulfill this role and Mrs Ayres will teach the class on Wednesdays.
We welcome three new teachers to our school:
Miss Tiffany Musgrave and Miss Claire Jones to YR
Miss Jenny Kelly to Y2
I’m sure you join me in wishing them a happy and successful time with us.
SCOOTERS
I’m delighted to tell you that at the end of the Summer term we received our funding to create a scooter park. We are currently waiting for quotes to clear spaces in the shrubbery outside the main entrance and to lay a hard surface. Once that is done we should we on our way!
A FEW REMINDERS
JEWELLERY IN SCHOOL
Children should not wear any jewellery to school apart from stud earrings or a watch.
PE
Please make sure that your child has the appropriate clothes for PE in a drawstring bag - we ask that the children do not use back packs as these are difficult to store in the cloakrooms. The children need a pair of plain shorts (not Bermuda style!) and a plain t-shirt. In line with West Sussex policy long hair must be tied back and no jewellery can be worn. Therefore please remove earrings on PE days. During the six weeks healing time, immediately after piercing, we will cover the earrings with surgical tape.
SAFETY FIRST
Please remember that the staff car park is for staff parking only. Please do not walk through it but used the pedestrian gates. May I also remind you not to park by the emergency gate as this must be clear for emergency vehicle access.
YEAR GROUP CURRICULUM TALKS -for Year1 and Year 2
This term we hold meetings to inform you of your children’s curriculum for the coming year and to answer any questions you may have regarding their new year group. I will give you an overview of the National Curriculum requirements and then guide you through the way we deliver the curriculum. Teachers will then talk to with you more specifically about expectations in your child’s year group.
I do hope you can join us.
Year 1 Curriculum talk - Wednesday 11th October at 2p.m. in the Studio
Year 2 Curriculum talk - Thursday 12th October at 2p.m. in the Studio
PARENTS EVENING FOR YEAR 1 AND YEAR 2
Thursday 19th October 5-7p.m.
During the Autumn Term we hold an informal evening. The classrooms and shared areas will be set up to give you an idea of the kinds of activities your children learn through. Your child will be your guide!
Please note there are no appointments.
Just come along and have some fun.
Miss Ward will let Reception parents know of the arrangements for their children’s consultation.
