2007 Spring
Tuesday, January 16th, 2007HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!
STAFF NEWS
We welcome Mrs Jo Allcock as our new school secretary. I am delighted to let you know that Mrs Boxall is back.
I’d like to remind you of the New Year Resolutions I suggested you make at the end of last term!
NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS
I will name all of my child’s school clothes so that the lost property box can be reduced.
AGAIN WE HAD A HUGE NUMBER OF UNCLAIMED LOST PROPERTY AT THE END OF LAST TERM.
I will make sure that my child has a P.E kit in school every day.
WE ONLY HAVE A LIMITED NUMBER OF SPARE KITS.
I will park safely if I need to drive to school.
I will not drive onto the school site other than the drop off area.
PLEASE SEE ATTACHED LETTER FROM SUSSEX POLICE.
I will provide a healthy packed lunch for my child.
WE ARE WORKING TOWARDS A HEALTHY SCHOOLS AWARD AND HEALTHY EATING IS A MUST.
Thanks.
Parking
As I’m sure many of you noticed the Police are monitoring parking around school. They are concerned by the congestion caused by thoughtless parking and the danger that this could cause. One of our parents was knocked over by a car at the end of last term. Fortunately he was not hurt, however had a child been hit……………………………..it doesn’t bear thinking about.
Car Free Fridays
We will be continuing with Car Free Fridays and presenting the class with the most children who either walk, park and stride or car share with an award each month. Please support this initiative which contributes to our healthy schools work.
Scooter Park
At long last our scooter park is almost finished! The ‘parks’ have arrived and will be installed very soon. Many thanks to Mr Barber (Lauren’s daddy) for his hard work. There will be spaces for 40 scooters. If you wish to use the parks you may like to buy a padlock to secure the scooter. CHILDREN MUST NOT SCOOT AROUND THE PLAYGROUND BUT PUSH THEIR SCOOTER TO AND FROM THE PARK.
I will let you know when the parks will be ready for use.
PARENTS EVENING FOR YEAR 1 AND YEAR 2
Thank you all so much for giving so generously to the collection following our Christmas Performance (wasn’t it great!) We will be able to buy equipment for Linstead Basic School, Jamaica to the value of £500. This will make such a difference to them. Thank you once again.
School Review
At end of this financial year we begin to prepare to review the provision and progress we have made. After half term you and your children will be receiving questionnaires so that you can contribute to this process and help us to plan for the future.
PLEASE take a few minutes to complete the questionnaires as we value your input.
CONSULTATION EVENINGS
Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th March
This is an opportunity for you to come and discuss your child’s progress during a ten minute appointment. Lists will go up in cloakrooms on Wednesday 28th February for you to sign up.
PATCHWORK
Parents and their children working together
We are planning a Saturday morning PATCHWORK, Super Scientists, this term on Saturday 3rd March
Details to follow.
We will be running SHARE workshops for parents again this term.
Details to follow.
BOOK FAIR
13th - 20th March
An opportunity to buy a range of children’s literature.
Details to follow.
VANDALISM
Sadly we are still the victims of increasing vandalism. The Nursery and Reception outside areas have been targeted on several occasions and equipment has been destroyed.
If you see anyone that you consider may be up to mischief on the school premises during the evenings and at the weekend please would you let us know or call Simon Purcell at Crawley Police Station extension 20482 or PC Darren Taylor on extension 31227
Attendance
A reminder
We strongly discourage holidays for Year 2 children during the first half of the summer term. Essential preparations for End of Key Stage Assessments are planned for this time. Children who miss these learning opportunities will be disadvantaged and therefore any holiday requests will be unauthorised.
We are committed to giving the children every opportunity to do their best.
WINTER WARMERS
We are adding some super ski hats to the range of school uniform that we sell. The red hats have the school logo on the turn up and will be available after Christmas for £3 each. One size fits all!
Samples on display in the library.
