2008 Spring (1)
Wednesday, January 30th, 2008Happy New Year To You All
Staff News
We are delighted to welcome Mrs Cripps to our office team as our Welfare Assistant.
Mrs Wilson has asked me to pass on her thanks to you for the “fabulous leaving gift and for the tremendous kindness and supportive well wishes.”
Thanks You
This should be the last of the Christmas news!
I’m sure you’ll agree the Christmas performance, ‘The Best Gift’ was a fantastic success. The independence of our children was a common comment - we are so proud. Thank you for your generous donations; we raised ?650 in total. Our cargo bill for the gifts we sent to Jamaica has been cleared (?180), we have donated ?290 to Home Start and the remainder was spent on costumes.
Christmas Fair
Another successful afternoon!
Huge thanks to the Friends of Maidenbower Infant School committee for their dedication and hard work in organising this event. We have raised approximately ?4.950 to be shared between the three schools.
Tesco Sport For Schools
Thank you for collecting these vouchers for us. We have 26,800 and the order for sports equipment has been made.
And on to this term…
CONSULTATION EVENINGS: Wednesday 5th March from 5.00p.m. and Thursday 6th March from 3.30 p.m. Lists for signing up will be displayed in the cloakrooms on Tuesday 12th February. If it is impossible for you to sign up personally (or via a friend) please contact your child’s class teacher.
THE TRAVELLING BOOK COMPANY: Tuesday 11th - 18th March. The company set up a range of good quality fiction and non-fiction books in the studio for you to buy after school. Please come along.
CLASS ASSEMBLIES: Mrs Tomlinson, Mrs Boxall and Ms Crossland’s classes will be sharing their learning with parents and carers this term. (See calendar of events at the end of this letter) The assemblies will begin at 9.15 a.m. We hope to have cr?che for pre-school siblings.
School Clothing
We have noticed that some of the girls are beginning to wear rather fancy hair accessories which cause considerable distraction! We discourage ‘tiaras’ and lacey hair bobbles!!
PE kits must be in school all week. We have very few spare kits and are unable to keep up with demand. Please ensure that your child brings their PE kit to school every Monday and that it does not come home for washing before Friday. Thanks.
Attendance
A reminder:
We strongly discourage holidays for Year 2 children during the first half of the summer term. Essential preparations for End of Key Stage Assessments are planned for this time. Children who miss these learning opportunities will be disadvantaged and therefore any holiday requests will be unauthorised.
We are committed to giving the children every opportunity to do their best.
Sickness
May I remind you that if your child has sickness and/or diarrhoea may I remind you that the child MUST not return to school until 48 hours following the final bout!
Use of the Emergency Telephone Number
Mr Stevenson’s mobile telephone number (on the school sign) is for out of school hours premises related emergencies only. He has received several calls regarding the Junior School chickens and also about school business, he is unable to help on either count.
And finally…
School Review
At end of this financial year we begin to prepare to review the provision and progress we have made. After half term you and your children will be receiving questionnaires so that you can contribute to this process and help us to plan for the future. PLEASE take a few minutes to complete the questionnaires as we value your input.
