TOPIC

We have stepped into Renoir’s painting ‘Umbrellas’ and discovered so much about

the people and the places by using our imaginations. We think they may have been in

busy market place. The little girl may have been heading to the park to play with her hoop,

and the lady may have been buying things for a picnic…

We will explore this further, leading to a grand finale of a ‘French day’ on Thursday.

PLEASE WEAR RED, WHITE OR BLUE ON THURSDAY!

Feel free to wear one colour or any combination!

We will fill baguettes for a picnic with the whole school in the afternoon.

PLEASE BRING YOUR PACKED LUNCH AS USUAL.

MATHS

We will be practising out subtraction skills by taking items out of the picnic basket.

SCIENCE

The girl from the painting has arrived in the park and she spots people playing with the boating lake. She doesn’t have a boat, what could she use instead? We will investigate floating and sinking by predicting which objects will float and testing them in the water tray.

P.E

We will apply our sending and receiving skills to play different games.

Please check that plimsolls fit, we have a lot of squashed toes!

COMMUNICATION, LANGUAGE & LITERACY

We will revisit letter formation, practising letters beginning with the ‘c’ shape:

c, o, a d, g, q

Our key words for this week are: if, off, had, back, him.

Have fun playing lots of games to practise reading and writing them.

We will also stretch our brains by listening for words ending in these sounds:

ng, ing, ong, ang, ung.

Our butterflies have flown away, safe and sound!

It was amazing to see them change in such a short time… just like the children!

When we return from our half term break, the whole school will explore a

painting called ‘Umbrellas’ by Renoir. We will think about what is happening in the picture,

and will consider what might happen next… The adventure begins!

We think one of the characters may be shopping for food,

SO we thought we could bake some delicious bread!

If you can come and help us with this please let us know – we would be most grateful!

Also please inform us of any allergies to bread related products.

MATHS

We are comparing the weight of different objects that may

have caused the main character’s basket to break!

P.E

Outside! We will DEFINATELY need plimsolls.

COMMUNICATION, LANGUAGE & LITERACY

Our key words for this week are: of, all, was, said, come

Have fun playing lots of games to practise reading and writing them.

We will also practise recognising capital letters V, W, X, Y, Z

WALK TO SCHOOL WEEK

Well done for trying your best to have friendly feet!

Keep up the super work with our car free Fridays!

SAFETY

So many children are coming into school independently now,

thank you for supporting them through this transition!

Please can you help us keep your children safe by…

·        Making it clear that they are to stay in the classroom once they have left you.

·        Please move right away from the cloakroom once you have said goodbye.

·        Please speak to an adult in the shared area if you need to see a

member of staff, the person on door duty must focus on security.

Thank you for your support.

Have a fabulous half term break!
