The School Curriculum

In Reception, children continue to follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.

In Key Stage 1, children study within the National Curriculum

The national curriculum is a set of subjects and standards used by primary and secondary schools so children learn the same things. It covers what subjects are taught and the standards children should reach in each subject.

We do not follow a commercial Phonics scheme, but we follow the teaching sequence recommended in Letters and Sounds.  It aims to build children's speaking and listening skills in their own right as well as to prepare children for learning to read by developing their phonic knowledge and skills.
