Friends of Maidenbower Infant School and Nursery
The Friends of Maidenbower Infant School and Nursery is the name given to what might traditionally have been called a Parent Teacher Association. We call it the Friends to indicate that anyone can help us, not just parents or teachers.
Our sole aim is to organize fundraising events for the school - events which your child enjoys attending - and which pay for extras to enhance the facilities the school provides, giving your child the best educational experience possible during their time here.
The Friends are responsible for buying the first interactive whiteboards which are a huge part of teaching life, some of the laptops for the teachers and the digital cameras which record events throughout the year. And there is always something new to buy, for example, our fundraising has just paid for the scooter parks and we are looking into permanent shade for the summer.
These things are funded through several major events:
- The Christmas Fair (2005) which brought in ?1,382 for our school
- Midsummer Madness (2006) which raised ?3,360 for us
- Fireworks night (2006) which will give us approximately ?2,300
Including other things we run such as children’s film shows and shopping events, the PTA raised a total of ?10,494 for the year ended 31 August 2006.
Despite this great news, we always need and welcome new help and ideas so if you fancy coming along to the next meeting or have a fundraising idea, drop your name and number in the Friends post box outside the office. Whatever your skills, we would love you to contribute in improving the school, enriching the children?s education and getting to know other parents.
