What a start to 2010!
Following early closure at the end of the Autumn term due to staff being unable to travel to school safely through the snow we then found ourselves in the same situation after only one day of the Spring term!
Decisions to close schools are not taken lightly and I thank you for your understanding as I know the implications, especially for those of you who work.

School PlanPart of our plan is for our locality schools to gain UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools status. Briefly, this is about our children understanding the Rights of the Child; understanding the difference between wants and needs and their responsibility, within school, to ensure that all children receive their rights. For example, we all have the right to learn and therefore it is our responsibility to enable others to learn by behaving well and working hard.
Year 1 and 2 are part of a drama project, facilitated by Bigfoot, which is proving to be an excellent way for our children to learn and understand these quite challenging concepts. Locality schools’ staff are also being trained to be Forest Schools leaders. This will enable us to provide many opportunities for Year 1, Year 3, Year 5 and Year 7 pupils to experience team work and learn about our world in an outdoor, exciting environment.
You will have read in our Ofsted report that although we make good provision for Community Cohesion we can further improve by developing the national aspect. To this end we are creating links with an inner city school in London. I have already visited St Alban’s Church of England Primary School and the headteacher will be visiting us this month to plan a way forward for the children from both schools to learn more about each other and their schools.
An exciting venture!! Class AssembliesDuring the Spring and Summer terms the children in Year 1 and 2 will present an assembly for their parents/carers. These assemblies are held on a Friday morning at 9.15 a.m.
You will receive an invitation to attend nearer the time.
