SCLP Teaching School Alliance
Maidenbower Infant is proud to be a member of the Southern Collaborative Learning Partnership (SCLP) teaching school alliance.
The SCLP Alliance is a non-profit making organisation run by schools for schools. We are a collective of like-minded schools who are committed to developing longitudinal, high quality, cost effective professional development for all staff. We are currently the only primary school alliance in West Sussex, having been awarded the status in March 2013 by the National College of Teaching and Learning/Department for Education.
Our ultimate aim is to work in trusting partnerships having a sustained impact, ensuring consistently good and better outcomes for all children. The SCLP Alliance is committed to creating opportunities to innovate, inspire and transform through a collaborative partnership based on trust, respect and integrity.
The SCLP Alliance comprises:
Specialist Leaders of Education
Whilst Pound Hill Infants School is the overall lead school, Birchwood Grove is the strategic lead school for Specialist Leaders of Education (SLE) within the SCLP and currently two of our teachers have been designated by the National College of Teaching and Learning (NCTL) as SLE’s.
SLE’s are outstanding middle and senior leaders who have the skills to support individuals or teams in similar positions in other schools. They understand what outstanding leadership practice in their area of expertise looks like and are skilled in helping other leaders to achieve it in their own context. SLEs can develop the leadership capacity of others, using coaching or facilitation support that draws on their knowledge and expertise.
The core role of an SLE is to support leaders in other schools, helping them to develop leadership capacity that will ultimately improve outcomes for children.
Each deployment will be tailored to meet the needs of the supported school. Deployments may involve coaching, mentoring or facilitation skills – there is no set approach, but support will always focus on sustainable leadership development and school improvement. There is no pre-defined time commitment for SLE work because models and types of deployment vary.
