Jo Holmes

I am a married mum of three, one of which is now at university and the other two still at Oriel High School. I have lived in Pound Hill for 24 years. I was co-opted onto the governing body 4 years ago and have recently moved over to become the Local Authority governor on the board, providing a link between the LA and the school.

Until recently, I was working at a local infant school, where I was employed for 7 years as a Learning Support Assistant (working with SEND children) and latterly a High Level Teaching Assistant, teaching groups and whole classes. This work has given me a real insight into the day-to-day functioning of an infant school and a deep appreciation of the requirements for SEND children in particular. I left the role in December 2019 to start my own business as a local mobile Reiki therapist, but my passion for the standards of local education has not diminished, hence my remaining on the board.

I have two individual areas of responsibility as a governor, namely SEND and literacy, both areas close to my heart. I am also on both the curriculum and disciplinary committees.
