Kathryn Knab

My name is Kathryn Knab, and since September 2023, I have been a Parent Governor who is on the Curriculum Committee and is also responsible for safeguarding.

My background is in education, having worked in primary schools in both West Sussex and Surrey.  As well as being a teacher, I have also led on subjects such as English, PSHE, Geography and Science, alongside being curriculum leader for a school.  I also have a passion for history, specialising in it when I did my BA in Education.  I am now an Assistant Headteacher in a local primary school, as well as a SENCO and part of the safeguarding team.  This year I took on the additional role of Cluster Inclusion Lead for my academy where one day a week, I support seven local schools to ensure the provision is correct for all children, particularly those who may be disadvantaged.  I have just completed by NASENCO award.

I have lived in Maidenbower since 2014 but have lived in Crawley most of my life so know the area very well.  My daughter is in Year 2 and has been at Maidenbower Infant School since joining at the start of Reception.  I have closely followed the school's development since then and am excited and privileged to be part of a school and governing body that is so dedicated to improving the outcomes and lives of all children in the school.  It is a passion of mine that all children reach their full potential and move onto the next phase of their education as happy, confident and independent learners.
