Cultural Capital at Maidenbower Infant School Nursery
Cultural capital is giving children the essential skills and knowledge for what comes next in their lives. At Maidenbower Infant School Nursery we aim to give every child the best possible start to their early education at future success.
Staff build strong relationships with families, carers and the children themselves. The knowledge that parents and carers hold about their children allows nursery staff to understand each child's interest, traditions and values. Alongside the knowledge shared by parents, ongoing observations of the children enable staff to develop a good understanding of what every child required and needs. Staff use the observations to build on the children's existing experiences of learning and play.
Cultural capital is achieved in the nursery by offering a wide range of resources and activities that encourage children to develop a curiosity, explore, try new things and experience awe and wonder.
Learning through play offers things that children are interested in and the opportunities to practice and develop new skills.
