Tom Barrack
My name is Tom Barrack and I have recently joined as a Co-opted governor. My background is in Engineering where I have worked for UK & USA design companies on a variety of large projects, from jet engines to railway passenger safety. I am a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with the IMechE and currently work as a Senior Principal Engineer at a local Sussex transportation company. My wife and I were thrilled when our son was accepted to Maidenbower Infant School reception class, hoping long term for his sister to join him in a few years.
During my career I’ve taken active roles in the promotion of STEM and the sciences across a variety of age groups, at schools and in industry. While not a teacher by training, I’ve had hands on experience of teaching during my post graduate years (2007-2009) within the Dept. of Engineering at my former university. I’ve also been a STEM ambassador previously in West Sussex.
I am looking forward immensly to being able to learn more about the schools plans and needs, and seeing where I can help support the school in progression and education for all the children.
