At Maidenbower Infant School and Nursery, we are passionate about ensuring that our curriculum is engaging, interesting, inspires all children to learn and is ambitious for all. The National Curriculum is a set of subjects and standards used by primary and secondary schools in England so that all children learn the same things. It is important to us at Maidenbower Infant School and Nursery that we follow the statutory National Curriculum guidance but that we also personalise our curriculum to meet the needs of the children in our community. Each year group has a themed "I wonder..." question each half term which promotes curiosity and steers the learning. The key texts have been carefully selected for each year group to ensure that children are exposed to and have the opportunity to learn a range of higher level vocabulary, as well as supporting the key knowledge and skills that we want our children to learn. All of the key texts are loosely themed around each year groups' "I wonder..." question for the half term and we ensure that all children are exposed to a range of high quality texts including fiction, non-fiction and poetry. At Maidenbower Infant School and Nursery, we also want all children within our community to have a range of experiences of the world around them. We ensure this by providing exciting enrichment opportunities each year that link to our themed "I wonder..." questions.
